As we approach the end of 2017 it’s a good time to reflect on the passing year.
We started the year with our very first mini business event involving a number of businesses in the world of Health and Beauty, the event was a great opportunity for the public to trial some of the fantastic treatments on offer. We went on to run two further events in the year, each time raising money for local charities in the process.
Our membership continues to grow, even though we sadly lost a few businesses on the way that ceased trading in 2017. It’s remains a difficult climate for all businesses, we continue to support our members as needed and are extremely pleased to be growing in members, we are fast approaching 150!
We noticed a rise in petty Crime so we joined forces with Witham Neighbourhood Watch and were delighted to secure Police Surgeries. Held at the hub these meetings give residents an opportunity to ask the police questions.
We are extremely proud to have hosted our very first Chamber Showcase. We hired the public hall and along with our sponsors we hosted a number of speakers. We gave out a number of Awards to chamber members, recognising achievements and showing what Witham has to offer. The event was well attended and based on its success we have booked again for next year!
In late 2016 we set up our first networking group, in 2017 we expanded adding additional times, giving local businesses a place to meet plus supporting the venues with an extra, much needed, income. We have plans to increase the networking further in the new year and we have already secured all dates for 2018 so don’t forget to purchase your tickets.
In October we held our AGM, along with the re-election of the Committee we also agreed to set up workshops to help both members and non members. We kicked these off with two google
workshops, helping businesses to get to grips with both online technology but Adwords.
We will be using eventbrite to streamline bookings in the coming year, this will give us an opportunity to invite non members to our events; fees will remain at cost to members with a small additional fee to non members to assist with marketing.
Finally, it just leaves me to wish you all an very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Safe and Prosperous New Year
